Holland 2006

37 Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders set out on their journey to Holland on April 13th.

Stage one was completed when they all arrived at the Scout Hut near Harwich at 22.15, some had traveled by tube and train, others had been driven up in Star Bug the District mini bus and the rest were driven up in a hired mini bus.

The Scout HQ was a meeting point for two other parties as well as the South Berks contingent as there were also groups from Wales and Birmingham.

Chief Scout Gold Award

I was pleased to present a Chief Scouts Gold Award at 1st Crowthorne last night to Adam Turner.

Adam achieved his award, completing it last Saturday by organising a night hike for the Troop, which involved all planning and test walking of  the route, as well as running the event. He also carried out several months service helping with the Cub pack for his commitment and learned to scuba dive as part of the award.
Adam was the first to receive one of the new certificates now signed by Peter Duncan, Chief Scout, along with his badge which he may wear on his Explorer uniform (as the highest award achieved while in the Scout section). Well Done Adam!
Praise also goes to Adams leaders, Rob, Steve and Graeme, (Rob & Graeme shown with Adam in the photo).

Well Done Adam for gaining the Top Scout Award

"1st Sandhurst Scouts go "overseas"

To the Isle of Wight.

It will always be remembered by the unnamed Scout that told me in front of a local that

He was not missing England at all.

At which point the local ask the Scout where exactly he thought he was........."
