Medal of Merit

Congratulations to Kim Papps, Akela of 1st Easthampstead Scout Group Cub Scout Pack on receiving the Medal of Merit awarded by the Chief Scout for exceptional service in Scouting.

Well done Kim

Now here's something that you wont see very often

Congratulations to Ken Buckland on receiving his 40 year Service Award ( and that is not a typo, it's really 40 years ).

Ken is known by everyone in the District as he can be found at the District Shop on Monday evenings, backstage at the Gang Show and at just about every District Event that we do, in fact if Ken's not there it's not really a District Event.

As far as I know he has been working with the 1st Easthampstead Scout Group for the duration of his service which is something in it's self.

Ken is pictured here receiving his 40 Year Service Award from our District Commissioner Peter Forbes.

Well done to Ken on receiving his 40 Year Service Award

If you went down to the woods today you were sure of a Big Surprise

The District Sponsob event was held on 16th October at Edgabarrow.  It was the first time it had been held for at least 4 years.  Over 116 young people took part plus parents, leaders and helpers.  They covered 14 bases which included fun activities such as 'fishing for ducks' to personal challenges such as remembering all the objects hiding in a tree.  There were also a number of physical challenges such as a rope bridge to across and the 'daring-do' aerial runway!  Those Beaver, cubs and Scouts that were sponsored managed to raise funds for their own Scout Groups thus gaining an extra benefit from what was a sunny and most enjoyable day.

Well done to all those who came and took part
